A truly classic venue and a Mecca for windsurfing in England. The beach is pebbly and shelves steeply at first. This creates a mean old shorebreak making it almost impossible to sail here at high tide if it is very windy, unless you are a real looping hotshot.
At low tide weekend, the conditions can be fantastic for beginners and experts alike. There is a sandbar about half a mile offshore providing some good waves for jumping and creating a large shallow lagoon area of relatively flat water behind it. The sandbar itself, at mid tide, can have some of the best waves around.
There is a large pay & display car park (free in winter). There are also some toilets and snack bar at the end of the car park and a freshwater hose to clean off you gear.
